Winterville - Ned Christopher Fielding, 75, died January 12, 2006.
Mr. Fielding was a native of Oconee County and was preceded in death by his parents Hubert and Sally Mae Fielding. He was retired from the U.S. Army with 23 years of service. Mr. Fielding served 2 tours in Vietnam and one tour in Korea. Following his retirement, he retired from the Oglethorpe County School System. Mr. Fielding was an active member of the Winterville United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 14, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Winterville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Reeves officiating. Interment will be at Winterville Cemetery with Military Honors.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Hines, Johnny White, Forrest Neely, Billy Sanders, Phillip Irwin, Herschel Reeves, Roger Smith and Ronnie Harris. Honorary pallbearers include Tim Little, Dr. T.B. Gibson, Tom Gibson, Warren Poss, Art Berry, Dewitt Prince, Randall Covington, Walt Mullenax and Hoyt Carney.
Survivors include his wife, Julie M. Fielding of Winterville; son, Christopher Fielding of Athens; three sisters, Margie Murray of Hull, Vernita Morrison of Crawford and Mary Ella Burger of Oconee County; three brothers, Allen Fielding, Mack Fielding and George Fielding, all of Oconee County.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6:00 until 9:00 PM.
