Ned Dawson

R. Ned Dawson, 83, of Watkinsville, died January 3, 2021.

A native and lifelong resident of Oconee County, he was a son of the late Raymond A. and Patt J. Dawson and was preceded in death by brothers, Billy Dawson and twin, Edd Dawson.  Ned was a 1955 graduate of Watkinsville High School where he was Class President and then attended the University of Georgia.  He retired as a Research Technician from USDA – Southern Piedmont Research Center with over 40 years of service.  Ned was a lifelong member of Union Christian Church where he served in numerous capacities, including Deacon and Elder.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jean Maxey Dawson; children, Mark (Lisa) Dawson, Patti (Ken) Clark and Jeff Dawson and grandchildren, Hailey Clark and Harrison Clark, all of Watkinsville.

Due to  Covid 19, there will be no family visitation. However, extended family and friends are invited to pay their respects and sign the guest register at a viewing on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 between the hours of 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM at Lord and Stephens, WEST. Masks will be required inside the building.

Graveside services will be private with burial at Union Christian Church Cemetery.
