Nancy Jane Hughes

Nancy Jane Hughes, 80, wife of 47 years to Robert N. Hughes, Jr. , died on Saturday, February 18, 2023. Born in Decatur, IL. Nancy was the daughter of the late William Carl Luka and Virginia Atwell Luka and mother to the late Anthony Richard Heinkel and Theodore Scott Heinkel. Nancy graduated from McArthur Douglas High School in Decatur, IL where she was  homecoming queen and cheerleading captain.  She was the first female general contractor in the state of Illinois. She worked as a homebuilder, owned Bottom Bits, a retail store, was a realtor and received “Rookie of the Year” award.  Then owned and operated  Pressure Plus, a  Commercial Painting business in South Florida.  Survivors in addition to her husband include four children: Tamara Sue (Jay) Laing, Robert Thomas (Stacye) Hughes, William Edward (Beverly) Hughes, Tricia Deanne (Brian) Huth; brothers: Dan (Sue) Luka and Ronald (Peety) Luka: sister Julie Webster (David); sixteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Lord and Stephens Danielsville Chapel.
