Myrtle Elizabeth Steele, 91, a resident of Quiet Oaks Health Care Center for the last four years, passed away January 14, 2010.
A native and longtime resident of Oglethorpe County, she was the last surviving child of James Dillard and Martha P. Kidd Lesseur and was the widow of William Claude Steele. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Annie Mae Harrison, Mattie Sue Day and Cecile Carter and brothers, James Lesseur, Mark Lesseur and Deaver Lesseur. She was a homemaker and a member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Sunday, January 17, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST, with Revs. Clayton Sanders and Jeff Lester officiating. Interment will be in Sandy Cross Cemetery.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, William Kerry and Anita Joyce Bell Steele of Winterville, GA; grandchildren, Cindy Steele (Rev. Bill) Kent of Pitts, GA, Penny Steele (Matthew) Morris of Social Circle, GA, Scott (Dinah) Steele of Powder Springs, GA, Joy Steele (Robert) Maddox of Arnoldsville, GA; seven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bill Kent, Scott Steele, Matthew Morris, Jim Day, Larry Day and Allen Kent.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
