Watkinsville - Myrtle Strickland Mize, 81, wife of the late Walter A. Mize, Jr., died Saturday, August 13, 2005 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Maude V. Strickland. Her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Mize and Johnny Lester, brothers, Jessie D. Strickland, William Strickland, sisters, Leila Burroughs, Irene Strickland and Remona Strickland also preceded her in death. She was a member of Forest Heights Baptist Church. Mrs. Mize had worked at Athens Regional Medical Center as a LPN. She was a member of the D.A.R. and the U.D.C.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Wayne Barr, sisters, Thelma Armour, Hazel McCafferty, Nell Caldwell, brothers, Paul Strickland, Raymond Strickland, grandchildren, Tere Beale, Genie Beale, Amanda Barr, Jason Barr, and great-granddaughter, Kristina Beale and special cousin Joy Landers.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 15, 2005 at 11AM at Lord & Stephens East Chapel with Revs. Eric Buffington and Ted Kelly officiating. Visitation will be held tonight from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Paul Caldwell, Jimmy Armour, Walter Conner, David Strickland, Frankie Strickland and Jason Barr.
