Myles Jerome Titus

Myles Jerome (Jerry) Titus, age 74, of Lexington, GA passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 19, 2022.

He was predeceased by his mother, Jane Coker Titus, and father, Edgar Fenwick Titus, of Atlanta, GA.

He is survived by daughter, Jerilyn Titus, grandsons Andrew Myles Titus and Daniel James May all of Crawford, GA; ex-wife of 30 years and friend of 52 years, Linda Parish of Lexington; brother William Jerome Howell of Knoxville, Tennessee; sister Patricia Venable of Raleigh, North Carolina; mother-in-law Frances Parish of Crawford, GA; sister-in-laws Carol Banks (Butch) of Monroe, GA and Ann O’Neill (Fred) of Gainesville, GA; niece Christy Parker (Greg) and two great-nieces Kate and Sarah Parker of Milton, GA; niece Jaime Lackey (Brian) and two great-nephews Tyler and Grant Lackey of Marietta, GA; and niece Jennifer Jeffrey (Dave), great nephew Travis Jeffrey, great-niece Carolyn Jeffery, and great-nephew Eric Jeffery, all of Monroe, GA.

Jerry was a 1967 graduate of Sylvan High School in East Point, GA, and served in the US Army from 1967 to 1969. His entire professional career was spent in the custom window treatment industry as and installation expert. He and wife Linda, founded and co-owned JT Interiors from 1976 t0 1992 with stores in Tucker, Athens, and Lexington, GA. They designed, fabricated, engineered and installed custom window and bed treatments locally, nationally and internationally for projects from a single window in tiny Lexington to palaces in the UAE, a hotel in Trinidad, and the room in the Panama Canal Zone where the treaty was signed to return the Canal to Panama. He worked in the homes of such notables as Elton John, Kenny Rogers, a member of REM, a Florida Governor, and an Arabian Sheik.

For over 20 years he was an instructor at several national trade shows and at home furnishings schools in North Carolina teaching advanced installation techniques to students from all over the US. From 1992 until 2020 he operated as “The Window Specialist” installing both residential and commercial jobs throughout the Southeast.

From 1976 until his death, he was an active member of the Lexington Fire Department. He served on the Lexington City Council for 18 years, was a member and former Deacon of Lexington Baptist Church, and was a founding member and former trustee of Historic Oglethorpe, Inc.

He had a vested interest in historic preservation and in serving his community. Jerry and Linda lovingly restored their circa 1820 Greek Revival home on Church Street in Lexington and he had recently purchased a building in Lexington and then generously donated it to the Lexington Downtown Development Authority to be renovated for use as a community center for the citizens of Lexington and Oglethorpe County.

Services for Jerry will be at Lord and Stephens Eastside: Visitation Tuesday, June 21, from 6 to 8 and Wednesday, June 22, from 1 to 2 with the service to follow at 2:00. Burial at Athens Memory Gardens.
