Winterville - Montez Holladay, 89, died October 25, 2006 at Winterville Retirement Center as a result of complications of lymphoma and heart problems.
Mrs. Holladay was born December 24, 1916, in Obion County, Tennessee. She grew up in that area until adulthood and graduated from South Fulton, Tennessee High School in 1935. She attended University of Tennessee at Martin, Tennessee. Mrs. Holladay was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Stella Milam; four sisters and one brother.
Mrs. Holladay was a member of Gordonís Chapel United Methodist Church, Hull, GA, and a 50 plus member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a former and dual member of Colorado Eastern Star #135 and Athens Eastern Star #268. Mrs. Holladay was a former member of Madison County Pilot Club, a charter member of the Over 50ís Club and a member of numerous bowling leagues.
Funeral services will be Sunday, October 29, 2006, at 4:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST, with Rev. Robert Passmore officiating. Interment will be in a family cemetery near Martin, Tennessee. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to funeral service time.
Survivors include her husband, G. C. Holladay; two sons, Roy Qualls of Nashville, TN, and Barry Qualls of Muscle Shoals, AL; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sister, Mamie McKnight of Decatur, GA; four nieces.
