Mistye Leigh Meador, age 42, of Athens, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2013, at her home, after a long battle against cancer.
Mistye was born in Nashville, Tenn., on September 29, 1970, the daughter of Deanna (David) Iskowe and Bill (Beth) Meador. She attended the University of Georgia and received bachelor, master, and specialist degrees in education. She spent her working career in K-12 education, most recently working as an assistant principal at Loganville High School, in Walton County.
Mistye is survived by her parents, Deanna and Bill, of Nashville, Tenn.; life partner, Andrea Wilson, of Athens; son, Wyatt Wilson Meador, of Athens; brother, Todd Meador, and sister, Marybeth Meador, both of Nashville; and her many wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and work family.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, at the Seney-Stovall Chapel, 201 North Milledge Avenue, Athens (www.cviog.uga.edu/chapel).
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, Tenn. (www.dignitymemorial.com/woodlawn-memorial-park-nashville/en-us/directions.page).
To honor her legacy, the family is requesting that, in lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Mistye Meador be made to the Loganville Scholarship Fund, c/o Loganville High School, 100 Trident Trail, Loganville, GA 30052.
