Millie L. Gray, age 71 of Crawford, passed away on September 7, 2017.
She was born in Columbus, Ohio on November 12, 1945 to the late George and Alice Ebert. She has lived in the Athens area for the last 37 years. She was a retired Real Estate Appraiser with Accurate Appraisal Group in Winterville. Prior to her work as an appraiser, Millie owned Turnkey Painting for 20 years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth George Ebert, and her lifelong friend, Sharon Gano.
Millie devoted much of her life to raising, training, riding and showing horses. She was a member of the Dixie Reining Horse Association (DRHA), the American Quarter Horse Association, and was a lifelong member of the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA). One of her horses, "Hard Workin' Whizard", became the NRHA novice horse world champion reserve in 2013 and won two NRHA world championships in 2009. In addition to her love for animals, Millie was an avid Atlanta Braves and Chipper Jones fan.
Mille is survived by her husband Don Gray, son James "Jim" Gray, Daughter Wendy Gray, her beloved dogs AJ and Punky, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends at Lord & Stephens East on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 1:30 until 2:45pm. A graveside service will follow at 3:00pm at the Winterville City Cemetery.
In Lieu of Flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Research hospital, a charity which was close to Millie's heart.
