Mildred Dover Sanders

March 19, 1943 — March 15, 2014

Stephens, GA - Mildred Dover Sanders passed away on March 15 after a lengthy illness. She was born March 19, 1943 to the late Bishop Dover and Winnie Marcus Dover of Union Point, Ga.
Mildred enjoyed a vibrant, active life surrounded by a large family, numerous friends, and a loving church family. Growing up she was a popular student at Union Point High School where she excelled in basketball. She was well known for her beautiful voice which graced many church services and weddings. She enjoyed working many years as a secretary at Farm Bureau. Recent years were spent helping her husband Clayton in the poultry industry, and organizing church and family events where she was known for her skills around the kitchen. Mildred was a faithful member of Clark's Station Baptist Church, Tignall, GA.
Her greatest accomplishment was fulfilling her role as "Nanny". While her home was always welcome to a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, there were more than thirty foster children she took in as her own who still claim her as their "Nanny".
Mildred is survived by her husband Clayton of thirty-six years; brothers Terry Dover and wife Martha of Auburn, Ga., Dennis Dover and wife Lynn of Union Point; a sister, Nancy Lowry and husband Ray of Union Point; daughters Rhonda Bradley and husband Robert of Greensboro, Sharon Peterman and husband Steve of Stephens, Christine Short and husband Mike of Maxeys, Beth Smith and husband Hewitt of Comer, and daughter-in-law Judy Sanders of Stephens; sons Howard Sanders of Stephens, Eddie Sanders and wife Hazel of Stephens, Timothy Sanders and wife Rebecca of Athens; sixteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
