Mike “Pop” Thomason, 65, husband of 42 years to Cheryl Carson Thomason, died Wednesday, August 12, 2020.
A lifelong resident of Oconee County, he was the son of the late John Henry Thomason and Miriam Kitchens Thomason. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter Casey Cole and granddaughter Carson Bailey Cole. Pop retired from Georgia Power as a Lineman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved riding horses.
Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons: Chris Holbert of Farmington, Charles (Angel) Holbert of Watkinsville; mother: Jackie Ramsey Thomason of Bishop; siblings: John (Elaine) Thomason, Roy (Carol) Thomason, Jimmy (Margaret) Thomason, Carol Jane (Stuart) Cofer, Beth (Bruce) Carey and Barbara (Jim) Jones; eight grandchildren: Corey, Caleb, Kristen, Chase, Ashlyn, Caley, Skylar and Kendal; four great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and close friends.
A private family only service will be held Sunday, August 16, 2020 at 2PM at Lord and Stephens West Chapel with a public graveside service to follow at approximately 3PM at Farmington Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 at the funeral home on Saturday, August 15, 2020.
