Michael Simpson Wilson, 35, died on August 3, 2017 at his home in Athens, Georgia.
Michael was born in Cincinnati, Ohio November 24, 1981. He also lived in Savannah, GA for many years, attending Savannah Country Day School and was a member of Independent Presbyterian Church before returning to Cincinnati and graduating from Cincinnati Country Day School. He earned a degree in Russian History and Philosophy from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Michael was a musician and sound technician, inventor, a lover of history and an avid reader. He had a gifted intellect and wit and was generous with his time and talents, especially with his younger siblings. He could fix anything, imagined everything, and genuinely loved to teach. He enjoyed the outdoors and was a counselor at several children's camps. His hobbies included fishing and water skiing. He was especially loved by all of his nieces and nephews to whom he was devoted.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, James Miller Wilson, Sr. and Sara Sharpe Wilson of Gainesville, Georgia and James Hunt Simpson and Juanita Whitaker Simpson of Savannah, Georgia.
He is survived by his father, James Miller Wilson, MD and stepmother Lisa Vanlandingham Wilson of Lakemont, Georgia, and his mother Sue Simpson Gouse and stepfather John Conrad Gouse, MD of Savannah, Georgia; siblings James Miller Wilson, MD and wife Hillary Guthrie Wilson of Reno, Nevada, Robert Paul Wilson and wife Elizabeth Lippert Wilson of Cincinnati, Ohio,
Sara Wilson Parker and husband Wesley Parker of Greenville, South Carolina, Katherine Gouse McKinley and husband Stephen Rutherford McKinley of Atlanta, Georgia and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Michael leaves a deep void in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed in this life, but our hope is in the Resurrection.
