Michael Craig Smith, 50, of Lexington, passed away peacefully in his sleep Saturday, July 8, 2017.
Born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, he was a son of the late Ronald Dale Smith and Mary Catherine Hendrix. Michael was a certified electrical journeyman and he enjoyed working. He helped to build the Falcons Stadium, to rebuild the Braves stadium, and remodel the Tate Center at UGA. He was currently employed at Inglett and Stubbs as an electrical journeyman and was currently working on the soccer fields at UGA. Michael was a member of Grove Chapel Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his aunt, Rachel Ann Harrison; uncle, Patrick Smith and two cousins, Todd Hendrix and Tracey H. Crawford.
Survivors include his brother, Timothy S. Smith and his children, Benjamin Carter (Jackie), Heather Smith Rodgers (Rob) and Torie Dale Smith; aunts and uncles, James R. Hendrix (Brenda), Shirlee Hendricks, Robert Smith (Sharon), Cheryl Wedmore (Randy) and James B. Harrison Jr.; cousins, Lizanne Huff (Mitch), Julie Howell (Aaron), Kim Hendrix Hull (Shane) and Tedd Hendrix and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Lord and Stephens, East. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family is at the home of Lizanne Huff and JB Harrison, 185 Wesley Chapel Road, Lexington, GA 30648.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter, 1888 Colbert-Danielsville Road, Danielsville, GA 30633.
