Michael Warren Reed, 28, of Athens passed away August 27, 2013.
Born August 23, 1985 in Athens, GA, Michael was a graduate of Oconee County HS. He attended Ga Southern Univ where he was a brother of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Michael served in the 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division in the US Army and was a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was co-owner of JWR Engravers. Michael was a charter member of Oconee County's Lacrosse Team and this last spring enjoyed volunteering as a coach for the current teams. Michael was a member of Athens First Presbyterian Church. As an avid Georgia fan, he followed the Bulldogs closely, even when deployed in Iraq.
Survivors include: parents John and Patti Reed, grandfather Louie Reed, brother Wesley Reed, sister-in-law Lori Reed, nephews Braxton Warren and Maddox Avery Reed, and loved by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and girlfriend Kacy Cargile.
Service will be held Friday, August 30th at 3pm at Athens First Presbyterian Church with visitation at the church following the service. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park at 6pm.
