Michael Lloyd Montgomery

Michael Lloyd Montgomery, AKA “Bubbles”, 59, of Winterville, GA, died on January 11, 2024.

He was the son of the late John Wade Montgomery and Shelby Jean Belcher. Many of his years were spent running the streets of Americus, GA before settling down in Athens, GA in 2003. He is survived by his wife Cindy Montgomery, daughter Julianna Montgomery, son Gabe Montgomery, step son Richard Smith, and step daughter Kecia Smith. His siblings Johnny (Kim) Montgomery, sister Lisa Belcher, nieces, nephews, grandchildren (two and four legged) also remain.

He could be described as a loyal, hard worker. His last (and favorite) place of employment was Patriot Construction, of Arnoldsville, GA, where he was employed for 10 years, as a project manager. He was an avid softball player in his younger years. This began with Hall Sewing Machine Shop, followed by Tri City Merchants, and last but not least, the “world renowned” Video Warehouse team of Americus, GA. He only ever played one position, which was first base. These teams managed to accumulate numerous city league championships, and they went undefeated in 1987. He was active in his church, East Athens Baptist, of Athens, GA. While a member here, he was a deacon and assisted with the youth group. He loved many but not many more than the Georgia Bulldogs. Come Saturday, in the fall, he could often be found in front of a TV, be it where it was, cheering the dawgs to a win. He did not take many vacations, but when he did, he loved to cruise with those dearest to him. He was know to just “say yes” to trip requests/demands with his favorite travel partner. He loved golf, pool, playing any card game, singing and dancing. His smile and laugh could brighten any room. His children were his greatest pride in this life. To know him was to be loved by him. He would want everyone to know that tomorrow is not promised, ensuring your salvation in the Lord should be top priority in this life, laugh until you cry, take the trip, and lastly, do not wait to make healthier life choices.

Funeral Services are to be held Sunday January 14, 2024, at East Athens Baptist Church at 3pm. The family will receive friends from 1-3pm at East Athens Baptist Church.
