Michael S. Green

Michael Green of Athens, died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, May 12, 2012. Mike was born in Douglas, GA on March 20. 1957. He grew up in Telfair and Jeff Davis County but had made the Athens area home for many years. He was a graduate of Mercer University and John Marshall Law School. He was admitted to the State Bar in 1987 and practiced law for many years in Royston and surrounding counties.

He will be remembered as a caring and loving husband, father, son and brother. Family was the most important part of his life. His family remembers different parts of his personality, his love of music, his encyclopedic knowledge of rock and roll, his unique sense of humor, his love of travel, his lawyerly ability to argue any point of view, his ability to tell stories and make them come alive, but most importantly his generosity and his need to take care of everyone Mike was a good friend and gave generously of his time and talent to all of those who loved and depended on him. We were blessed to have had him in our world and he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kelly Green, daughters, Katie and Nisi Green and Christie LeCroy, son, Steven LeCroy, mother, Jackie Elrod and the late Dan B. Elrod, Sr., M.D., sister and brother-in-law, Becky and Masoud Pirouz, and many extended family members.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 4PM at Lord & Stephens East. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 at the funeral home prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
