Michael Carson

Michael O. Carson, 61 of Watkinsville went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on June 15, 2016.
Mr. Carson was the son of Hazel Carson and the late O'Neal Carson. He was a native of Oconee County and was preceded in death by his father, Thomas O'Neal Carson and an infant brother.
He graduated from Oconee County High School in 1972 and the University of Georgia in 1977.
He was employed for 36 years by the FSIS (Food Safety and Inspection Service) at Russell Research Center as a microbiologist until his retirement in 2011.
Mr. Carson was an active member and served as an elder at Antioch Christian Church.
Family will receive friends on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Lord and Stephens West. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Antioch Christian Church with Pastor Scott Bartholomew officiating. Burial will be at the Willoughby Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the Elders of the church.
Survivors include his mother, Hazel Carson; sister, Mary Louise Fielding (Mack) of Watkinsville; nephew, Wade Fielding (Julie) of Colbert; niece, Lisa Fielding Thompson (Marc) of Milledgeville and five nieces and nephews: Katelyn and Carson Thompson; Zachary and Madison Fielding and Brianna McCarty and a very special friend, Glenn Davis of Statham.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Judy Giles Scholarship fund at Antioch Christian Church.
