Melvin C. "Buddy" Tate Sr

Melvin C. "Buddy" Tate, 82, died Wednesday, October 5, 2011.
A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Melvin Clifford and Mary Jane Patton Tate. He was also preceded in death by his son Clifford Ray Tate, Sr. and his former wife Willie Geneva Tate. Buddy retired from Hanson Mineral Products after 29 years.
Survivors include his grandchildren; Jerri T. (James Potter) Wise of Grayson; Ray (Melanie) Tate of High Shoals, Chris (Naseem K.) Tate of Watkinsville; great grandchildren: Russell Wise, Kyle Wise, Sarah Wise, Leah Tate, Conner Tate, Cole Tate and Landon Tate and one aunt; Vera Evans.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 11AM at White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Steve Powers officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, October 7, 2011 from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Oconee Chapel Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
