Maxine Norman

March 14, 1944 — December 19, 2014

Maxine "Granny" Norman passed away on Friday, December 19th, 2014 at Athens Regional Medical Center. She lived 70 amazing years.
Maxine was born on March 14, 1944 at St. Joseph's Infirmary in Atlanta, GA. She was a phenomenal baker - at any event, it was always an unwritten rule that Granny would provide the desserts. She was a very skilled seamstress, a talent she'd honed her entire life. Above all, Maxine cared most about her family, her friends, and her little Pomeranian named Ginger. When she wasn't spending time with family, she was either cruising around town with her best friend, Jeannie Epps, or manning the front desk with her other 'family' at Athens Family Dental Center. She loved the simple things - Hobby Lobby, arts & crafts, and ice-cold Fresca.
Maxine is survived by her son, Brigham Norman (Delaine), her daughter, Belinda Epps (Gary), and her youngest son, Titus Norman. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren: Kayla Smith, Nicki Epps (Mark Putnam), Russell Norman, and Hayley Epps Appleby (Stephen); and her great grandchildren: Jordan, Rylee, and Savannah Smith. She is preceded in death by her father, Jack Tschudy, and her mother, Betty Barber. Ginger plans to take Maxine's place by Jeannie's side.
Maxine will be buried on Monday, December 22nd, 2014 at Colbert Cemetery. A memorial will take place at 2pm on the same date at Lord & Stephens' East in Athens, GA. The viewing will take place on Sunday, December 21st at 2pm, same location. All are welcomed and encouraged to attend and celebrate the life of our beloved Granny. Flowers are certainly appreciated, but all are encouraged to donate to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation in her name.
