Maudene Chandler McCannon

Maudene C. McCannon, 91, died January 22, 2024.

A native and lifelong resident of Madison County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Edd and Jewel Whitworth Chandler. She was also preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years, Joe McCannon, as well as six siblings, William L. Chandler, Lorene Moseman, Mary Ella Brooks, Jean Edwards, Jerry Chandler and Patricia Chandler and a grandson, Chris McCannon.

Mrs. McCannon was a longtime member of Moriah Primitive Baptist Church. She was a gracious woman with a true servant’s heart. Early on, she was a telephone operator, but spent most of her life as a devoted farmer’s wife and homemaker. In this role she served various organizations and associations over the years with her time and effort alongside her husband – they were an inseparable team.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 25, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, Danielsville, with Elder Ernie Bryson officiating. Interment will be in Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include three children, Ronnie (Kelly) McCannon of Carnesville, GA, Steve (Nancy) McCannon of Pendleton, SC and Linda (David) Echols of Hull; two brothers, Jack Chandler of Hull and Bobby Chandler of Colbert; five grandchildren, Christy (Brent) Hooper, Katie (Michael) Neal, Heather (Will) Cabe, Joey McCannon and Hayden Echols; seven great-grandchildren, Deacon Cabe, Teller Cabe, Emersyn Cabe, Dayton Neal, Ellis Neal, Vahn Neal and Ian Neal; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00pm at the funeral home.
