Mattie Lou Swindle, 89, died May 20, 2005.
A native of Madison County, she was a daughter of the late Cam and Mattie Embry Haggard, and the widow of Tom Watson Swindle. She was the oldest living member of Providence Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother.
Funeral services will be Sunday, May 22, 2005, at 3:00 PM at Providence Baptist Church. Revs. Albert Vaughn, Douglas Duncan and Tim Sexton will officiate. Interment will be in Ila Cemetery.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Leon and Carolyn Swindle of Flowery Branch, GA; three grandchildren, Tom Swindle, Terry Swindle and Mark Swindle; two great-grandchildren, Katie Swindle and Ashley Swindle; a great-great grandson and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Sammy Jones, Junior Shields, Clayton Bridges, Billy Culbertson, Frank Swindle and Greg Greenway.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, GA 30605.
Lord and Stephens, Danielsville, is in charge of arrangements.
