Athens - Mary Lou DuPriest Williams, affectionately known as "Sistee," passed away on November 16, 2008.
Sistee was born in Albany, Ga. on January 2, 1933 and raised in Sylvester, Ga. She was the daughter of Rosa Polhill and Raymond Hadley DuPriest. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Raymond "Bingo" DuPriest. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, James Henry "Jimmy" Williams Jr.; her sister, Judy (John) Cole of Tifton, Ga.; as well as her sons, James Henry "Hank" Williams III (Beth) of Atlanta and Mark Raymond Williams (Sue) of Athens. She adored her seven grandchildren: Maggie, Jack, Mary Hadley, Hugh, Kelley, Kate and Meg Williams.
Sistee and Jimmy were longtime residents of Greenville, S.C. and recently retired and relocated to Athens.
Sistee graduated from Sylvester High School and the University of Georgia, where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She was a lifelong Georgia Bulldog fan and was the first female president of the Greenville S.C. Bulldog Club. She was devoted to the Athens Y Camp in Tallulah Falls, Ga., having spent many summers there when Jimmy was an Assistant Director.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 19 at 2 p.m. at Beech Haven Baptist Church. Visitation will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Burial will be Saturday, November 22 at 4 p.m. in Sylvester, Ga. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary's Hospice House, 1660 Jennings Mill Rd., Bogart, GA 30622 or Athens Y Camp, P.O.
