Mary Hornby Wiebe
Athens

Surrounded by her loving family, and after a courageous and graceful fight with cancer, Mary Hornby Wiebe left us Tuesday, January 14, 2014. She was 75.

A native of Seattle, WA and a long time Athens resident, Mary was the daughter of the late Cedric Cornwall Hornby and Evelyn Texley Hornby. She was presented to Seattle society as a debutante. Mary attended Smith College and UGA. She retired from Clarke County Tax Commissioner's office 2004, and was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Mary loved volunteering her time and talents, always giving back to the community and her church. She was involved in many organizations, was an avid reader and a great lover of cats.

She is survived by her treasured children: Sam (Vonda) Wiebe of Snellville, GA; Lisa (Rob) Audino of Statham, GA; Muffie (Scott) Waterman of Campbell, CA; her cherished sisters: Kim Brown and Valerie Rout; and her beloved grandchildren: Chloe (Nick), Chad, Brennen, Madi, Eva and Oscar.

To celebrate her life, Mrs. Wiebe's family will receive friends Saturday, January 18 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church: informal gathering at 10 am in the Parish Hall, church service following at 11 am, Rev. Robert Salamone officiating. Interment will follow at Oconee Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Mary's Hospice House would be graciously appreciated.
