Athens - Mary Thurmond Schultz, 80, passed away August 27, 2008.
A native and lifelong resident of Athens, Ga., she retired from Clarke County Department of Family and Children's Services after 20 years. Following retirement, Mrs. Schultz was a caregiver for Alzheimer's patients in this area for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harris Thurmond and Eloise Johnson Maxwell and sister, Ann Elder.
Graveside services will be Sunday, November 9, 2008 at 3 p.m. at Boggs Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Alisa Schultz of Athens; grandson and wife, Ben and Holly Schultz of Watkinsville; sister, Jane Braswell of Fla.; brother, George Thurmond of Fla.; several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 1925 Century Blvd. NW, Atlanta, GA 30345.
