On April 4, 2016, Mary Hannah Thomas at the age of 81, went home to be with her savior, Jesus Christ. As a youth, she was a member of Bishop Christian Church and after marrying C. H. "Hot" Thomas, she joined Watkinsville First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where she was an active member and Sunday School Teacher. Her faith was the foundation of her life and an example for others.
Mrs. Thomas was born September 21, 1934; she was also a native and lifelong resident of Oconee County. She was the daughter of Victor and Martha Kenimer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband C. H. "Hot" Thomas. Survivors include her two sisters Katherine (Larry) Weatherford and Elizabeth Thomas and three children: Mark (Dianne) Thomas, Mitch Thomas, and Sherri Thomas. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Morgan Thomas, Madison Thomas, Andrew Thomas, Carleigh Thomas, Lanie Thomas, and Justin Conley.
Mary Hannah graduated from Oconee County High School and attended the University of Georgia. She worked for Georgia Motors as a bookkeeper, the Oconee County School System and the family farming operation. She also worked along side of her husband "Hot" Thomas to create Hot Thomas BBQ.
Family was very dear to Mary Hannah and she was always involved with the activities of all of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed working in her yard, flower beds and cutting grass with her lawn tractor.
Visitation will be Sunday April 10, from 1:00-3:00 PM, at Lord & Stephens West, 1211 Jimmy Daniel Road, Bogart, Georgia 30622. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 also at Lord & Stephens West. Internment will follow at Willoughby Cemetery on Highway 15 south of Watkinsville.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Thomas, James Wilson, Oliver Kennon, Brett Thomas, Wade Whittle and Robert Wilson.
While flowers are appreciated, the family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Watkinsville First Christian Church.
