Mary Helen Springs, 64, of Lexington, passed away Friday February 25, 2022 following a brief illness.
Born August 9, 1957 in Florence SC, to Doris Mary and the later John Dalmon Springs. Helen lived a life in service. She was a police woman and paramedic in Florence SC for 10 years before becoming a Registered Nurse. Helen worked as a critical care RN at Athens Regional Hospital and Elbert Memorial Hospital, before starting to work in the home health care field. In 2005 Helen Springs and Paula Sartain opened A.C.T.Home Care, Inc. which served the North East GA communities. Helen continued her nursing career until her retirement last year. Helen was beloved by her patients, friends and family, known for always being happy to lend a helping hand. Helen was a Friend of Bill W. and attended Covenent Prebyterian Church in Athens.
Helen is preceded in death by her father, the late John Dalmon Springs. Helen is survived by her partner, Julie Akins of the home; mother Doris Matthews of Coward, SC; sister and brother-in-law Linda and James Pate of Coward, SC; nephew Scotty Dangerfield of Coward, SC; nephew John Lurie Pate and his wife Emily of Columbia SC; great Niece Ashley and her husband Chance Hilbour and great-great nieces Keely and Talyn McClam, all of Loris SC; great nephew Noah Dangerfield of Coward, SC. Helen is also survived by her business partner Paula Sartain.
A Celelbration of Life will be scheduled for a later date.
