Mary Carolyn (Doster) Shannon

Carolyn Doster Shannon, 68, wife of Marvin E. Shannon, died Monday, February 11, 2013.
Born in Walton County, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Annie Lowe Doster. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Donald Doster. Mrs. Shannon was a long time member of Mars Hill Baptist Church and was currently a member of First Baptist Church of Colbert. Carolyn retired from the Oconee County DFACS after 33 years.
Survivors in addition to her husband include her four children: John Heard of Atlanta, Greg (Sheila) Heard of Jackson, Dan Heard of Statham, Gary (Christy) Heard of Loganville; step children: Mark Shannon and Kathy Ashley; brothers and sisters: Dorothy Turner, Lamar Doster, Carl Doster, Ann Barber, Nancy Shadley; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 1PM at Lord & Stephens West Chapel with Revs. Brad Wilson and J.B. Reese. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Loren Smith Center for Cancer.
