Winterville - Mary Hardeman Melton, 93, wife of the late Willie J. Melton, died Thursday, October 4, 2007 at her residence.
A native of Oglethorpe County, she was the daughter of the late, James T. and Rosa Carter Hardeman. She was a member of Winterville First Baptist Church. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by her son, W.W. "Billy" Melton, brothers: Currell, Harold, Forest, Willie B. and Ray Hardeman; sisters: Clara Foster, Annie Ruth Pulliam and Florie Hodges.
Survivors include her children: J.A. "Dub" Melton and daughter in law, Betty of Winterville, Linda Melton Busbin and her husband Larry of Winterville; daughter in law, Virginia Melton of Winterville; sisters: Kathleen Hardeman and brother in law Gus of Winterville, Mable Pittard of Winterville; brother in law: James Pulliam of Winterville, seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 6, 2007 at 11AM at Winterville Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Jim Akins officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
