Mary Elizabeth (Hoy) McKeel

Mary Venable McKeel, 78, wife of Richard A. McKeel, died Friday, May 6, 2016. Born in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Hoy and Pearle Dixon Hoy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McKeel was preceded in death by her sister, Maxine Hoy Vaughn and son, Stephens Anthony McKeel. She was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and member of Watkinsville First Christian Church where she was the organist for 37 years and member of the choir. Mary retired from the North East Georgia Health District after 30 years.
Survivors include her husband Richard; children: Mike (Lori) McKeel of Winterville, Hope Gonano of Port Orange, FL, Beth Bly of Dubois, PA, Tara Contaldi of Sanford, NC; nephew: Bill Vaughn, fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 9, 2016 at 11AM at Lord & Stephens West Chapel. Burial will follow at Athens Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Christian Church of Watkinsville.
