Athens - Mary Burch Langley of Athens died Saturday, May 29, 2004. A native of Dodge County, Mrs. Langley grew up in Eastman and was a daughter of the late Christopher and Louise Ray Burch. Her brothers Albert Ray, Flournoy, and Jakie preceded her in death, as well as her husband, Archie Langley, She graduated from the University of Georgia in Home Economics and taught school in Richland and Dahlonega. She was a member of Athens First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Jenkins Sunday School Class. Mrs. Langley was also a merit badge counselor for the Boy Scouts of America.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert A. and Christina of Kingston, TN; Emmett R. and Carole Langley of Athens; her grandchildren, Laura, Anne, David, Alicia, Beth, and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at Oconee Hill Cemetery on Thursday, June 3, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 22, at Athens First Baptist Church.
