Mary Frances Hartley

Mary Frances Sanders Hartley, age 78, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2016 at the Piedmont Athens Regional Gentiva Hospice Care Center in Athens, Georgia.
Mary was born on October 24, 1938 in Bamberg, South Carolina to Willie & Pauline Sanders. She was a 1956 graduate of Bamberg County High School. She married her husband, Kenneth Hartley, on October 13, 1957. In 1963, the Hartley family moved to Athens, Georgia where they raised their family. Mary was a member of the Young Harris United Methodist church and, after many years of being a homemaker, went to work at the University of Georgia Golf Course Clubhouse. She had a kind, gentle soul and a love for all things chocolate.
Mary is survived by her son Clay (Renee) Hartley of Bogart, Georgia and daughter Paulette (Ronald) Brown of Colbert, Georgia; grandchildren Brandon (Ashley) Brown of Athens, Georgia, Patrick Brown of Colbert, Georgia, and Austin Hartley of Bogart, Georgia; great grandchild Easton Brown; sister Johnnie Bell Carter of Orangeburg, South Carolina; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Wesley Hartley; mother Pauline Glover Sanders; father Willie Vondola Sanders; sister Bettie Ellis; and brother Edward Sanders.
A visitation will be on Thursday, December 22, 2016 from 12:00pm - 1:00pm at Lord & Stephen's funeral home East Chapel followed by a graveside service at Evergreen Memorial Park at 1:30pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mary's life.
