Winterville - Mary Hazel Huff Fleming, 91, passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday, May 13, 2009.
A native of Oglethorpe County, she was a daughter of the late Gladys Burt and Wm. Louie Huff and the widow of Roy Edward Fleming. She retired from Athens General Hospital in 1979. She was a member of Cherokee Corner UMC.
Survivors include three daughters, Jane Fleming, Jean F. Maupin and Mary F. Hancock; one son, Larry (Peggy) Fleming; grandchildren, Lisa (Bruce) Carter, Tina (Mike) Saxon, Bryan (Sabrina) Hancock and Brad (Heather) Hancock; eight great-grandchildren, sisters, Martha H. Emerick and Nell H. Flanagan; and nieces and nephews.
Her love of the Lord, her sweet spirit and upright character will be remembered by those who knew her.
Friends and family are invited to gather at the Arnoldsville Cemetery, Arnoldsville, Ga., at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 16, 2009, for graveside services. Services will be conducted by Dr. Sheila Bookout and Rev. Raymond Duncan.
Pallbearers will be Brad Hancock, Bryan Hancock, Bruce Carter, Mike Saxon, Brandon Carter and Jesse Carter.
The family will receive friends at Lord and Stephens, EAST, at 10 a.m., Saturday.
