Mary Edith Bell, 87, died April 15, 2010.
A native of Elbert County, GA, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Dean and Miley Ann Jones Vaughn. She was preceded in death by her husband James Phillip Bell, U.S. Army Ret., and sister, Rachel Rhodes. Mrs. Bell retired from the printing department of the University of Georgia in 1989 and was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church. She was an Athens resident for over 40 years before moving to Douglasville.
Funeral services will be Sunday, April 18, 2010 at 4:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST. Rev. Don Leaptrott (ret.) and Rev. Mike Blount of Faith Baptist Church of Monroe will officiate. Interment will be in Sandy Cross Cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Cliff Bazemore of Sylvania, GA; son and daughter-in-law, John and Linda Bell of Douglasville, GA; sisters, Jane Blount and Ruth Nash, both of Athens; grandchildren, J. P. Bell, Jennifer Bell, Kim and Ed Reed; two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Lord and Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
