Mary Ann Betts

Mary Ann Betts, 88, of Athens, died on Wednesday, May 19, 2021.
A lifelong resident of the Athens area, Mary was the daughter of the late J.W. Simmons and Wilma Simmons. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Simmons, and her husband of 52 years, Flay David Betts.
Mrs. Betts worked as a licensed beautician before devoting herself to her family. She was a member of Oconee Heights Baptist Church.
Mrs. Betts is survived by 2 daughters, Lisa Schottroff and her husband, Michael of Snellville and Laura Dills and her husband David of Loganville; 2 grandsons, Chris Dills (Stephanie) and Alan Dills (Rebecca); and 3 great-grandchildren: Josie Dills, Lucy Dills, and Flay Dills.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 25, at Evergreen Memorial Park at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Chris Dills officiating.
