Mary Helen B. Appling, 86, of Carlton GA passed away on July 11, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Marvin and Hazel Burt, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, James Burt and Marvin Burt, Jr., and sister, Elizabeth Burt.
Mrs. Appling was a lifelong member of the Glade Methodist Church. She ministered to many in the community throughout her years through sharing her good cooking, caretaking those around her in need, and passing along her love of flowers, especially day lilies, that she loved to share with others.
Mary Helen had a very special bond with her grandchildren, her nieces and nephews, and most importantly her husband and children. She always had a smile, a laugh, a big hug, and something to eat for anyone who stopped by to visit.
She always gave to others first before she did for herself. Mary Helen was a lifelong Christian, who shared her faith by deeds everyday.
Survivors include: her husband of 68 years, James T. Appling (JT), daughter, Donna (Jay) Witherill; son, Mike(Alicia) Appling; brother, Eddie Clyde Burt(Angela), sister-in-law Doris Burt; grandchildren, Andrea (Clay) Quinn, Ami (Scott) Spayd, Kristopher Appling, and Emily Appling; great grandchildren, Wyatt and Waylon Quinn.
Her celebration of life service will be Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Glade Methodist Church. Reverend John Ozley will lead the service, along with Rev. Doug Bower, and Rev. David Burt. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to be given to the Glade Methodist Church, 1735 Lexington Carlton Rd, Carlton, GA 30627.
