Mary Pauline “Polly” Alewine, 78, of Bogart, died on June 24, 2024.
A lifelong native of Athens, Polly was the daughter of the late Otho Chandler and Viola Christopher Chandler. She graduated from Athens High School and worked for Reliance Electric for over thirty years. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose family was her number one priority.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Derrick Alewine, and two siblings, Tommy Chandler and Phyl Gibson.
Polly is survived by her husband of 60 years, Sammy Tony Alewine; two children: Todd (Connie) Alewine and Terri Alewine; brother, Mel Chandler; seven grandchildren: Ashley (Adam) Cave, Kelsey (T.J.) Mobley, Lindsay (Ethan) Slaughter, Ryan Davison, Trey (Barb) Church, Joni (Tyler) Duncan, and Kendall Church; fourteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 27 at Lord and Stephens, West Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Ron Bowie officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 until service time at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Alewine, Kevin Alewine, Derek Alewine, Dustin Alewine, Jarius Ross, T.J. Mobley, Adam Cave, and Ethan Slaughter. Honorary pallbearers are Ryan Davison, Kendall Church, and Trey Church.
