Watkinsville, GA - Marvin Deleon Savage, 85, died January 7, 2012.
Born in Oglethorpe County, he was a son of the late Tallie and Ruby Varnum Savage. Mr. Savage was preceded in death by his son, Wyman Savage; sisters, Jo Ann Savage, Hazel Forrester and Geraldine Welborne, and brothers, Artie Savage and Lamar Savage. Mr. Savage was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a retired truck driver and member of Briarwood Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Jane Savage; children, Teresa Adams (Stanley) of Bogart, Mark Savage (Gay) of Watkinsville and Andrea Fairbanks (David) of Watkinsville; sisters, Claudette Latham and Sarah Garrett; brothers, Lewis Savage, Bob Savage and R.L. Savage; grandchildren, Patrick Adams, Juliette Browning, Joanna Boswell, Andrew Savage, Amanda Dalton, Alan Michael Savage, Savannah Jane Fairbanks and Zane Fairbanks; 4 great grandchildren, Haven Adams, Amelia Dalton, Myles Boswell and Brooklyn Browning and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Briarwood Baptist Church with Dr. Rick Standard and Rev. Dan Fuller officiating. Interment will be at Johnson United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Messsenger Sunday School Class and the Joy and Sunshine Sunday School Class.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Briarwood Baptist Church Benevolent Fund or Johnson UMC Cemetery Fund.
