Marvin Kennon Barber, 75, of Bishop, passed away Friday, July 8, 2016.
A lifelong resident of Oconee County, Mr. Barber was the son of the late James Carl Barber and Gladys Tanksley Barber. He was a member of Ray's United Methodist Church. Mr. Barber enjoyed fixing up old cars, grilling out and he was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan. He had a great sense of humor, and most importantly, he loved his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Rachel Tapley; one step son, Johnny Meeler and one brother, James Barber.
Survivors include his wife, Velma McElreath Barber; three sons, Stacy Barber, Mike Barber and Mark Barber; two step sons, Tim Meeler and Mike Meeler; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 11:00 am at Oconee Chapel Funeral Directors. Interment will follow in Oconee Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Michael Ogletree, Dustin Ogletree, Bradley Ogletree, John Kentnor, Josh Cobb and Stacy Barber. The family will receive friends Monday, July 11, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
