Marvin Franklin Adams

Marvin Franklin Adams, 92, of Lanier Gardens, Athens, Georgia, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2022.

He was born on June 17, 1929, to George Franklin and Ollie M. Adams. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Beck Adams; brothers Clinton and Auburn Adams, and sister Mildred Hopkins. Survivors include his sister-in-law Malinda Adams, sons Mark (Pam), Robert (Dana), grandsons Drew (Brittany), Will (Brooke), Kyle, Jacob, and granddaughter Megan, great-grandsons Graham, Camden, great-granddaughters Riley, Kenley, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Marvin graduated from Athens High School in 1947 and later served in the United States Army. He was well known and admired for serving the greater Athens community as an insurance agent, working more than 40 years with Independent Life. He was an active member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon. Some of his volunteer activities included visiting the sick at hospitals, teaching 4-year-old Sunday School, and serving on the board for the WMSL radio station. His hobbies included cheering on the Dawgs, playing golf with friends, and keeping up with family.

Funeral services will be Sunday, March 27 at Lord and Stephens, West Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Doug Nix and grandson Rev. Drew Adams officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
