Martha Elizabeth Kenimer Thomas

August 17, 1928 — February 9, 2025

Martha Elizabeth Kenimer Thomas, 96, entered into the presence of the Lord on Sunday February 9, 2025, in Conyers, Georgia. She was affectionately known as “Sister” to her family!

Born on August 17, 1928, in Bishop, Georgia, Elizabeth was raised in a family of faith and carried that Christian foundation throughout her life. She believed deeply in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and her devotion was evident in her active participation in her church community and daily Bible study.

Elizabeth dedicated much of her time to serving others. She was a beloved volunteer with the Warner Robins Senior Citizens and spent eight years volunteering at Piedmont - Rockdale Hospital. Her kindness extended beyond formal service—she quietly developed a greeting card ministry, sending thousands of notes filled with inspiration, hope, and comfort to family and friends.

After moving to Oxford, Georgia, Elizabeth pursued the art of china painting with dedication for 25 years. This creative passion became an important part of her life, reflecting both her patience and artistic spirit.

Family was at the heart of everything Elizabeth did. She found her greatest joy in spending time with loved ones. She was a beloved wife, a devoted mother and an incredible grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Robert E. Thomas Sr.; her parents, Victor Kenimer and Martha Chandler Kenimer; and her sisters, Mary Hannah Thomas and Katherine Weatherford.

She is survived by her daughter Kay (Wayne) Atkisson; son Bobby (Kathy) Thomas; grandchildren Wade Whittle, Amy Whittle, Brett Thomas (Catherine), and Laura Thomas Boswell (Brandon) and great-grandchildren Lane Boswell, Jacob Boswell, Miriam Thomas, and Mattie Thomas as well as nieces and nephews who were also family to her.

Elizabeth’s legacy is one of faith, love, service, and creativity. Her memory will continue to bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.

A private graveside service will take place at Willoughby Cemetery Saturday, February 15, 2025. The family requests donations to the Bishop Cemetery Fund at Bishop City Hall, P. O. Box 196, Bishop, GA 30621 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
