Martha Lou (Veale) Smith

Watkinsville, GA - Martha Lou Veale Smith, 92, died December 21, 2012.
Born in Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Zuber Veale, Sr. and Effie Warren Hall Veale. She was the widow of Jerry B. Smith and was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Zuber Veale, Jr.
Mrs. Smith was raised in Oglethorpe County and was a graduate of Meson Academy. She made her home in Oconee County since 1945 and owned and operated Martha's Beauty Shop. She was a member of Watkinsville First Baptist Church where, before her illness, she served in various leadership roles, including teacher of youth and adult classes.
Survivors include her daughters, Martha Jo Smith Bundy of Ft. Valley, Jerry Ann "Jan" Smith of Watkinsville, Deborah Smith Yarbrough (Ed) of Watkinsville and Jennifer Smith Mobley (Barry) of Bogart; sister, Lora V. "Tiny" Palmer of Ft. Valley; 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Watkinsville First Baptist Church on Sunday, December 23, 2012 from 1:30 until 3:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM with Rev. Carlos Sibley and Rev. Boyd McLocklin officiating. Interment will be in Watkinsville Cemetery.
