Athens, GA - Martha Jeanne Lacey Schoewe, 77, died June 17, 2010.
Born in Sandusky, OH, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Geraldine Smith Lacey. She attended Huron High School where she was Cherry Pie Queen and the solo singer of her graduating class. Mrs. Schoewe moved from San Diego to Athens in 1998. While in San Diego, she worked for the U.S. Navy shipyard in Industrial Security, ran marathons and enjoyed the beach, sand and sun. After moving to Athens, she worked as a courier for Oconee State Bank. Always adventurous and ready to travel, she carried her passport, toothbrush and bathing suit at all times. She loved Windjammer cruises and Stoli on the rocks with olives. She was a very loved, loving and tenderhearted person and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Services will be Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 10:00 AM from the graveside in Oconee Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughters, Cindy Mitchell and Debby Allen; sisters, Judith Ann Rielle and Gerilynn Bryan; granddaughter, Jennifer Jeanne Gunn; great granddaughters, Nelli Jeanne Lucus and Allee Grace Gunn and her Jack Russells, Hanky and Shiner.
