Athens - Martha Warnock Joiner, age 91, of Athens, passed away early in the morning of May 23, 2005. Mrs. Joiner was a fifty-eight year resident of Athens-Clarke County and was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Jack Joiner. She attended Prince Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. Joiner was the last surviving child of the late Ira and Lenora Warnock of Toombs County, Georgia.
She is survived by her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Al Sanders of Watkinsville, Georgia; her cherished granddaughters and their husbands, Linda and Charles Sherrer of Loganville, Georgia and Martha and Jay Lee of Charlotte, North Carolina, along with her three devoted great-grandchildren, Adam (Jennifer) Lee of Rome, Georgia, Nathan (Ashley) Lee of Norcross, Georgia, and Sarah Bethany Lee of Charlotte, North Carolina and a number of nieces and nephews, and her best friend, Sugar, the cat.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 24, 2005. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at 11:00 am at Oconee Hill Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Athens Heritage Home for their loving care and concern for her for the past sixteen months.
They would also like to express their appreciation to her doctors and the nurses in the ICU unit and sixth floor at Athens Regional Medical Center for their kindnesses. The care of their loved one, as well as the consideration for her family, could not have been better.
