Martha Jean Giles, 89, died June 11, 2014. A native and longtime resident of Oconee County, she was a daughter of the late Amelia Poole and Thomas Elder Giles. A 1942 graduate of Watkinsville High School, Mrs. Giles was a gifted seamstress and had a special talent for making wedding dresses. She worked at C & S Bank and Oconee State Bank for many years and was a longtime member of Freeman Creek Baptist Church.
Memorial services will be Friday, June 13, 2014 at 4:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST with Rev. Parrish Myers officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for two hours prior to the service.
Mrs. Giles is survived by multiple cousins and their families including, Carol (Charles) Ivie of Watkinsville and their daughters, Sherrie (Mike) Pope of Winder and their children, Hunter Pope and Ivie Grace Bradberry; Shawn (Byron) Williams of Bogart and their children, Justin Williams, Haley Williams, Shelby Williams; and grandchild, Aubrey Williams.
