Beloved member of our community and lifelong Watkinsville native, Mark Savage (63), passed away on Friday, July 7th, 2023.
Born on February 13th, 1960, to Marvin and Annie Jane Savage, Mark was a 1978 graduate of Oconee County High School and afterwards became a longtime employee of Thrall Car in Winder.
On September 30th, 1978, Mark married his forever sweetheart, Gay (Ferguson) Savage. They settled down in Watkinsville and raised their 3 children, later becoming grandparents to their 4 adored grandchildren, his most prized possessions. He thought they hung the moon and made sure they knew it, attending every school and sporting event possible.
Mark had a way of making everyone feel like a friend and would have you laughing in no time. If you were fortunate enough to know him, you knew his funny personality was a highlight of his character. One of our best memories is him gifting the worst presents to the kids. It was the running joke and we all couldn't wait to see what had been gifted.
Mark was an extremely talented carpenter. He could build just about anything and often chose to share his gifts with those he loved most. Along with carpentry, Mark loved many things and truly lived life to the fullest. Some of his favorite things include: spending time at the lake, golf cart rides, cooking, fishing, camping, Georgia football, and Andy Griffith because “you never knew when they would come out with a new episode.”
In addition to his wife Gay, Mark is survived by his children: Andrew Savage (Kristin), Amanda Dalton (Jeremy), and Alan Michael Savage; grandchildren: Amelia and Hinton Dalton, and McKynnlie and Madelynn Savage; sister: Andrea Fairbanks, and many other family and friends.
