Mark James Dalusky, 66, of Athens, died on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.
Born in Alabama to George and Dorothy Dalusky, Mark grew up as an army brat, living many places until attending college at the University of Georgia. After that, he considered Athens home.
Mark worked for the Forest Entomology department at UGA, and even after retirement he continued his work against the Hemlock Wooly Adelgid invasion with the Lumpkin Coalition. He was a devoted outdoorsman and spent many hours in the woods with his dog. He was an avid rugby player, coach, and supporter of the UGA Alumni and Blind Pig rugby teams. He served as a volunteer firefighter on the Department of Natural Resources controlled burns and was also a master gardener and mentor for Clarke County youth. He was a talented musician and sang at any opportunity, especially at the Globe on Sundays. Above all, he was a good friend and loved helping those in need. He was loved and respected by many.
Mark is survived by his wife, Carolyn Dalusky, stepson Zach (Kimberly) Duck, brother Jeff (Denise) Dalusky, sister Amy (Randy) Reeves, and many extended family and friends.
Memorial services will be announced.
