Marjorie Harris, 91, wife of the late Orell S. Harris, died on Friday, October 26, 2012.
A native of Decatur, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Archie S. and Jessie Lee Vogan Goforth. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Edris Tomlinson; brother, Henry Goforth; granddaughter, Jessica Hanna; and great-grandchildren, Heather and Benjamin Hanna.
Mrs. Harris retired from the Board of Education, Memphis City Schools, as a secretary. She was a member of the Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation, Order of the Eastern Star, Aloha Chapter of the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, Women's Exchange of Memphis, and Beaux Arts Garden Club of Memphis; was Duchess of Memphi during the Cotton Carnival, and was a member of the Mullins Methodist Church of Memphis.
Survivors include her daughters, Beverly McGuire Schnur, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Patricia McGuire French, of Farmington; granddaughter, Stephanie Melissa Maddox; and great-granddaughter, Morgan Maddox.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to the St. Mary's Hospice staff and Olivia Griffin; and caregivers Barbara Odil, Yana A. Duffell, and Marianne Parr.
A memorial service will be announced.
In lieu of flowers memorials, may be made to St. Mary's Hospice and the Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation.
