Marion Eloise Perry Sanders, 90, of Winterville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 17, 2022.
Born in Clarke County to the late Walter Perry and Addie Strickland Perry, Marion spent her entire life in the Athens area. She married Robert Eugene Sanders, and they raised six daughters together. Marion excelled as a homemaker, a wife, mother, and seamstress, as she made all her daughters’ clothes. She was an easygoing person who never had a bad word to say about anyone. She loved gospel music, flowers, gardening, and Christmas. Above all, she was a godly woman, dedicated to her family and her faith.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; their daughter, Robbie Diane Sanders Thomas; 7 siblings; and her beloved dog, Scooter.
Marion is survived by 5 of her daughters: Debra (Wayne) Lyle, Regina (Wayne) Gabriel, Patti Childers, Pamela (Carl Terry) Elrod, and Sherri (Gregory) Hess; one sister, Barbara (Howard) Hammond; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Bridgeway Hospice and Ms. Marion’s caretakers, Tracy Fowler, Sissy Perry, and Stacy Hudson.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 20 at Lord and Stephens, East Chapel at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow the service at Athens Memory Gardens.
