Marie Edwards Smith

Marie Edwards Smith, 84, wife of Morton Smith, died Sunday, September 15, 2013. A native of Covington, GA, she was the daughter of the late Little Guy Pippin and Evie Lee Simmerson Pippin. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, J.V. Edwards. She retired from Austin Furniture as an Interior Decorator and had also worked for the University of Georgia food service department. Mrs. Marie loved taking care of her family and home. Survivors in addition to her husband include three daughters: Sharon Edwards of Jefferson, Donna Dyer of Athens, Debbie Dyess of Athens; sisters: Sherry Autry, Minnie Loyd and brother: Larry (Buck) Pippin; grandchildren: Chad (Elizabeth) Cheely, Morgan Cheely, Javie Farmer and Falon Dyess. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 3PM at Lord & Stephens West Chapel with Rev. Doug Ivey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted. Lord & Stephens West is in charge of arrangements.
