Our beloved and beautiful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, MARIAN R. MILTENIS, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on November 5, 2024.
Born on May 13, 1935, in Brooklyn, NY, Marian and her husband of 56 years, John Miltenis, met as kids at St. George Church, the center of their neighborhood. After John graduated from the University of Tennessee, they wed, relocating with AT&T around the country before settling in Ridgefield, Connecticut with General Foods/Kraft. Marian was an active member of St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Ridgefield, president of the Ridgefield Postcomers Association, and PTA President.
In her earlier years, Marian worked as the secretary to the president of Brooklyn Savings Bank, and later as the Corporate Receptionist at Boehringer Ingelheim in Ridgefield, CT. After retiring in 1992, she and John moved to Juno Beach, FL and were active members of St. Paul of the Cross Church in North Palm Beach where she volunteered for many years at the religious shop and as an usher. She was also active at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Palm Beach Gardens and volunteered at and gave generously to the families of Hope Rural School in Indiantown, FL. Marian was also an active member on the Seminole Condominium board, serving on the executive board for many years.
In addition to her beautiful blue eyes and smile, Marian also had a wonderful sense of style. She was known for her warm and sunny spirit and deep love of God and family. In her last few years as she battled health issues, she carried herself with incredible grace, gratitude, and strength. Her faith was unshakable, never questioning, always believing in God’s goodness.
Marian loved shopping, dancing, Broadway shows, performances at the Kravis Center, and attending gatherings at Juno Beach Center and church with friends. She was a wonderful hostess and cook and made everyone feel warmly welcomed. One of her favorite memories was fall family tailgates and watching her son John play football at UConn and feeding his hungry teammates after. Nothing brought her more joy than her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Jenny and Joseph Danieleski, brother Joseph, sister Theresa, beloved husband, John A. Miltenis, and granddaughter, Catherine Haitsch. She is survived by son, John Miltenis, Jr. (LuAnn) of Statham, GA, and daughters, Christine Ferrell (Henry) of Knoxville, TN, Carolyn Haitsch (Phil) of Ridgefield, CT, as well as four grandchildren, Jennifer O’Neil (Jeff), John Peter Miltenis (Julia), Chase Haitsch, and Jason Ferrell (Corinne). Marian was also very excited to know about her first great granddaughter on the way. She leaves behind her sisters Carol, Jeanne and Barbara, many nieces, nephews, and several dear friends as well.
A Mass will be held at the Catholic Center at the University of Georgia and burial will take place at St. Mary Cemetery in Ridgefield, CT. Memorial donations may be made to the Hope Laurel Catholic School, www.hoperuralschool.org, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to her many dear friends in Juno Beach and at the Seminole for their support and love as she made her transition to her heavenly home.
